Samuel Miller Snoddy (1815-1898) was the
seventh child and third son of Isaac Snoddy and Jane Crawford Snoddy.
He operated a farm on Jordan Creek
as a single man until his marriage to Rosa
Benson in 1853. He served in the local militia, retiring as
a colonel in the 1850s.
During the Civil War, he served as a
captain in a company of state troops. After the War he returned
to his farm and family. He died in 1898 at the age of eighty-three.
